Chins up, everyone! Mystic Girl is going well. I got a good chunk of work done on it this weekend and on the whole, I am happy with how it is turning out. There is a long road ahead but bit by bit it will come together.
It is also hot. Did I ever mention how hard it is to work on a hentai game without getting, uh, distracted? ^^;; Yeah I've just got to... test this feature a little more... see if the animation is working right...
As a couple people have pointed out, Demon Girl has been spotted in the top 50 highest ranked games on Newgrounds. That is, simply put, insane. For all the bitching I do about peoples' expectations and not being able to devote enough time to my games, it is good to know that people are happy so far. All of your support is appreciated. I mean, I really don't care what score it has, but it is pretty cool anyways. The top 50 gets shown on the main portal page so that helps more people find the game.
And the more people who see it, the more people we corrupt to our perverted ways. Hahahahaha!
Wait, what was the law called again? Oh yeah, corrupting morals. Whoops.
So an anon commenter last post brought up the idea of having fans contribute to Mystic Girl. It sounds good at first but I am reluctant to do that sort of thing. For a few reasons:
1) Mostly, it is just my own problem because I get to be a control freak over this sort of thing. I know this about myself, so I don't want someone to put in a lot of time drawing out an animation only to have me turn around and reject it, or have to spend about as much time fixing it the way I like as doing it from scratch. On the flip side, maybe someone makes an animation that totally blows mine out of the water, and now it is out of place and the rest of the game looks half-assed. It might just be a little hentai flash game, but I still like to keep some consistency (and to save face -_-).
2) Making content for this game is a lot more complicated than just drawing. I use a lot of tricks to make all the bits and pieces work together, so I would need to pretty much teach people how to do it. And more time spent teaching is less time spent actually working.
3) Now I would need to go around organizing everything, distributing files for people to fill in, waiting for people to finish their parts, putting together parts from a bunch of different places, checking over everything to catch mistakes, making sure anyone hasn't broken anything, etc...
4) It would basically just be me saying "do this, do that". Fill in those frames, lackeys! No creative freedom for you! Largely because, like in #3, adding anything substantial is a lot more complicated that it looks.
5) The idea of making a commercial version is not completely dead (just mostly). Which means (in the off chance it actually happens) I get all teh monays, and people get shafted and annoyed at me. "I worked on it too!", "But you filled out 2 frames, I'm not paying you for that!", "Lawsuit, bitch!". The alternative being I need to practically start a business to deal with it all.
And just a note, when I mentioned the idea of charging for an expanded version of Mystic Girl, most people seemed to jump to the conclusion that it would be like $39.99 or something. No no. If I ever do something like that, we're talking about $2-5 if that ($10 max if the distributor was a real bitch about it). I probably won't, lest I suffer the wrath of The Man, but if I did that is what it would be.
Anyways, random update post over. As always, check back in a week or two (or three or four) for more updates!

Although saying "yes, there will be anal" is neither surprising nor satisfying in itself, the idea of someone commenting about that strongly enough to make you put that as your feature update really makes me laugh.
If you ever run short on ideas for these updates, here are a few things you might load into your blog-gun if you ever feel like making more frequent posts:
-Show some kind of flash screenshot displaying some background and objects, something that shows a little bit of theme in the game.
-Describe the most interesting monster you've created thus far. If this is a big secret you intend to blow us all way with on release day, show the #2 and let us believe it is the best so far.
-Count the number of frames that any given movie clip has.
-Post a screenshot with each of the frames of some random movie clip... doesn't really need to involve anything in particular.
-If you have made something that you have not made before, blog it.
-If you ever experience anything that is very significant to you but you don't think we would be able to have a full appreciation for just by playing the game, blog it.

as far as what you wrote LM, it sounds like the game is going to be great! i understand completely your reasoning about not putting other artist's works in the game. i think we are better off allowing you to do your thing, while we sit back and enjoy. the roles of entertainer and the entertained should remain as they are. however, it would be cool to have a collab at some point, incorporating a bunch of material from different people. kind of NG style. just a thought.

The free version will be the same either way. It will just come out a little later (keep in mind the release date is completely random to begin with).

It's kind of rare to find an actual hentai game that has at least mildly entertaining gameplay — all the Japanese games tend to be interactive fictions with less than memorable stories.

Hm. I've got a couple ideas. Dunno if you'd like them... but here goes. ^.^
1) The possibility of choosing a sort of personality for Mystic Girl. This effects the ratio of your orgasm bar and energy bar, and perhaps even your speed and how well you fight off tentacles. Something I've been wondering for a fair while now is what do people prefer in their hentai? There are so many japanese games out there that are little more than interactive stories with a few nude drawings thrown in for good measure although at least in japan i would imagine they have a decent fan base else they wouldn't continue to exist. So are we attached to seeing something happening to characters that have developed over the game and its, by definition i suppose, dramatic series of events (although the only game i've seen do this to my satisfaction was divi dead)? Or are we interested in the challenge the games pose to us? This is the case with Deamon girl and such, although in an interesting twist we are punished with hentai... For one i know that i have run through many hentai games giving no more than a glance to the actual content and are more interested in the callenge it took to reach that goal.
A third catagory i suppose would be the kind of create your own story where it is more about your godlike control over the world, as expressed by games such as the princess maker series (although as far as i understand nudity is optional at best in those)? In these games we are allowed control over the protagonist more explicetly and could be considered a form of direct fantasy fulfilment.
Obviously the most successful games offer a mixture of all these three different aspects and each person differs as to which parts they prefer. Me being a person heavily motivated by character developent as well as challenge and less so by having my fantasies fulfilled means that i prefer the first two catagories. So how do we like our entertainment? are we there for the drama? the challenge? or meerly to play god with the beautifull ladies?
The challenge, the story based japanese hentai games are not really games at all in my view. The japanese ones are only there for the story, and if i wanted a good story i wouldnt look for it in a hentai game.

1: Necrophilia - Perhaps you can make there be a way in which the heroine can get killed instead of just fucked by her enemies, and THEN they can do whatever the hell they want with her (body). Think about it, she can't resist for shit if she's dead. Sex doesn't have to stop after death.

You could implement this as a way of saying "Game Over," although I myself would like there to be a "dead and still getting raped" ending and a traditional "alive but cannot resist getting raped" ending. If you were to make an ending for her to die, I would suggest that there be no decapitation, mutilation, or large amounts of blood though, as it would take too much away from it being erotic.
2:(I know i'm going to get blasted on this one)Pedophilia - We all know that hentai has already crossed into making animated underage girls being put into the most rapeist rape rape situations that anyone can raping draw.
